The Museum of Fine Arts in Houston, TX will be presenting an exhibition entitled RED HOT— Asian Art Today from the Chaney Family Collection, opening July 22, 2007 and running through October 21, 2007. Dinh Q Lê's Untitled (SPAM), a recent addition to the Chaney Family Collection, will be included in the exhibition, which is a sweeping overview of the spectacular rise of Asian contemporary art over the past decade.

The Museum of Contemporary Canadian Art (MOCCA) in Toronto will present Carolee Schneemann's work in a solo exhibition, entitled Breaking Borders, from March 24th to April 22nd, 2007. The Hauser & Wirth Gallery in London is putting on a group exhibition entitled Old School that will present Old Master paintings along with related works by contemporary artists. Julie Heffernan's Self-Portrait as Tender Mercenary (left) will be included in the show, which runs from May 10 - June 9, 2007. The exhibit will travel to Zwirner & Wirth in New York and be on exhibit from June 27 - August 31, 2007.

       

The Virginia Commonwealth University School of the Arts in Richmond, Virginia will present Ann Agee's Boxing in the Kitchen from April 13 - 28 at the Anderson Gallery. Boxing in the Kitchen was also exhibited at P·P·O·W in September of 2005.

       
Dinh Q Lê will be included in the upcoming exhibit, Thermocline of Art - New Asian Waves at the ZKM, the Center for Art and Media in Karlsruhe, Germany. The ZKM presents this Asian contemporary art exhibition from June 9th until October 21th to celebrate the 10th anniversary of the institution. The exhibition will display the work of one hundred artists not only from East Asia, but also from South East Asia and Central Asia.

  Carolee Schneemann's Portrait Partials will be on display as part of the group exhibit, Role Play: Feminist Art Revisited 1960-1980, taking place at Galerie Lelong in Chelsea. The exhibit runs from March 15 - April 28, 2007.          
 

Carolee Schneemann will be a part of the group exhibit WACK! Art and the Feminist Revolution at the GEFFEN CONTEMPORARY AT MOCA in Los Angeles. The exhibit runs from March 4th to July 16th, 2007. WACK! is the first comprehensive, historical exhibition to examine the international foundations and legacy of feminist art, focusing on works created from 1965 to 1980.

The Smithsonian Institution has awarded a fellowship to Sandow Birk. Birk’s work deals with contemporary social issues—many of his pieces present a view of post-apocalyptic California. He will research the U.S. Constitution and 18th- and 19th-century American art at the National Museum of American History, the Smithsonian American Art Museum and the Archives of American Art.

Walter Martin and Paloma Muñoz will be participating in ARCO 2007. ARCO is an annual international contemporary art fair that takes place in Madrid, Spain. They will showcase their project for the fair, called White Out, from February 15th - 19th.

  The Catharine Clark Gallery in San Francisco is showing a Group Photography Exhibition that includes works by Ellen Kooi. The show is on display from January 4th - 27th.      
  Ellen Kooi will have work in Arrebato, a group show at the Camara Oscura gallery in Madrid, Spain. The opening will be on January 11th at 8 p.m., and the exhibit is on display until February 28.      
"Dante's Inferno" has been selected from 3,200 film submissions for its World Premiere screening at the SLAMDANCE Film Festival in Park City, Utah, on January 20, 2007. Artist Sandow Birk is credited as co-author of the film.
