Melissa Chiu has been named director of the Guggenheim Museum in New York. Chiu is currently director of the Smithsonian’s Hirshhorn Museum and Sculpture Garden in Washington, DC, and previously held senior positions at Asia Society. (Artnet News)

Wrightwood 659 in Chicago will stage “Martin Wong: Chinatown USA,” the late Chinese American artist’s first monographic museum show in nearly a decade. On view from April 17 through July 18, it coincides with a Wong solo show at P·P·O·W in New York that is up April 18 to May 30.

Kyrgyzstan will present an exhibition by interdisciplinary artist Alexey Morosov at its national pavilion at the Venice Biennale.

Indian artist Mrinali Mukherjee will have a retrospective at the Hepworth Wakefield in the U.K. from May 23 through November 1.
